A critical component in the deployment of any quality initiative is the ability to accurately review information and make data-driven decisions. This is one of the most important roles for senior management. In Module 1, we have an example of a typical executive management review chart. The format is similar to the type of review charts used in many management sessions. You may have used similar charts to review software errors, operation of call centers, accomplishment of performance reviews, or other areas. This particular chart includes a comparison of various regional marketing organizations. It shows sales volumes compared to last quarter and last year. The charts also include comments on the performance of these different sales organizations (e.g., very good, very bad). If you were a manager in charge of this review, what decisions would you make in order to correct this situation? How would you improve the performance of the various marketing organizations?
